Old dog_stamp V.1 by Aquene-lupetta Old dog_stamp V.1 by Aquene-lupetta
I think this stamp says it all ^^
There are many old dogs in the pounds and unluckily there are less people that want to adopt them :(

Photo isn't mine; it's from an Italian pound.

Second version :pointr:[link]

My Jack Russell is now 10, and he's still going strong. Honestly, I don't think I'd ever get another young dog, old dogs rule! They love bathing in the sun shine, taking long slow walks, and snuggling.

I'm so tempted to adot an old dog as soon as possible! They're so sweet and often give less problems than a puppy.

Most of the times old dogs are stronger than we can think! :D My poodle was 12 years old and still was a hurricane! X'D

I once knew an elderly springer spaniel and she was rather sweet. She was not my dog but she belonged to my mum's friend.

:aww: My puppy will be 11 in September... I still take her for walks (shorter now, she pushes herself too hard sometimes), still call her puppy, and cuddle on her bed with her.. She's my lifesaver... not in the cliché way :meow:
She came from the pound when she was 3 months old, now ten and a half years of awesome later, all due to my sweetest girl.
Thank you for making this stamp, and allowing me to reminisce :

She's not doing too well recently, though. :( We're hoping it's just the temporary meds for an infection she has/had, but dogs can't tell you exactly what they're feeling.

I'm so sorry! :( Yeah, you're right! I had the same problems with my first dog (he was 13 years old) ... sadly he ran away when he seems to be ok and i never found him again. I think he wanted to die alone :(

Aww, I'm sorry! Well, at least you know you never treated him badly to make him want to run away. You didn't force him to.

Yeah ... I'm glad he ran away cuz I haven't seen him die (another of my animals died in front my eyes and that was horrible) but I'm also sad at the same time, cuz I don't know what happened to him. I just hope he didn't suffered too much.

Actually I prefer older dogs, because they are usually not as much of struggle like puppies and they are ,to me, easier to train! Puppies tend to chew and tear things apart and are very hyper and playful, because they are just puppies.

Plus I treat my dog ,that is seven years old, like if she were my sister. I love her to death!

yup, I see and I totally agree! :D

I never adopted an old dog cuz all the dogs I had and I currently have were gifted by friends or were rescued by me ... but to adopt some old dogs from pounds is a dream of mine :D

Me too! I love my animals to death! I could not live without them

What's sad is how they're in the pound in the first place.
Dogs are family, not just pets.

You don't buy a dog cause it's a "cute little puppy" you buy it because it is a friend and a member of the family.
They aren't objects, just because they get old and "aren't cute little puppies anymore" doesn't mean it's OK to just disown them... sorry... I'm ranting ^^;

Yeah its sad the seniors get overlooked. In fact I heard that any dog over 5 finds it harder to find a new home.... :(

We adopted a 16 year old dog once. He was so depressed when we first saw him. He was just lying in a corner staring at nothing and not even trying to get anyone's attention. He'd completely given up.

The shelter was no-kill but even so...we felt so sorry for him and couldn't leave him like that, at 16 he had almost no chance of being adopted.

He had apparently been dumped at a neighbours house to be looked after temporarily, but they never went back for him, and the neighbours couldn't or didn't want to keep him permanently so he wound up at the shelter.

He was a doberman x german shepherd mix, and very gentle, very well behaved (somebody had spent a lot of time on him somewhere along the line), He loved his walks although he got tiered easily so I had to keep them short. He even got playful on occasion :)

Yes it hurt when we lost him (to cancer), but then it does to lose anyone (animal or human) that you care about. At least he died with a home and a family who loved him, and not miserable and unwanted in the shelter. That made a huge difference to him, and made it more than worth it. I'd happily do the same thing again.

Can I please I use this stamp?

It's very hard to adopt out senior cats as well. >< I work with a rescue and we currently have a few cats that are 6-8 years old. (Which I don't even consider that old! They've probably got another good 10 years left in them). Everyone wants kittens and puppies. Well, guess what, those tiny little things grow up. And quickly! (One of the 'reasons' for wanting a puppy/kitten that I cannot stand is the whole "Well I want my child to grow up with them!" No offense, but your kid isn't going to give a fuck if it 'grows up' with the cat/dog or not. They are going to love having a pet no matter the age).

Plus, when you get an adult/senior pet, you don't have to worry about them tearing up your house! lol

I think it's very sad. Older dogs are so much more appreciative and, every senior dog I've met is quite noble. I think people should really take an older dog in consideration.

Yeah, when I go off to college or something, I don't want a puppy because they are so much work. Either a senior dog or a middle aged dog is what I'm going to get.
